Cell phones and electronic devices (including iPads and non-CMS laptops) must be off and away during school hours and on the school bus unless otherwise directed by the classroom teacher or bus driver.

Students must abide by the school’s designated “No Tech Zones” which include the following:

  • Bus (dependent upon bus driver’s rules/regulations)
  • Restrooms
  • Locker Rooms and changing areas
  • Hallways during transition times
  • All Classrooms

Fun Interactive Time stands for FIT and is effectively recess for the entire grade.  In the event of rainy or inclement weather, students will remain with their teacher in the block that FIT is scheduled for.

There are two entrances during carpool hours: (1) Front Entrance and (2) Selwyn Entrance.  During carpool hours, the Front Entrance is one-way only, enters from Runnymede Lane and exits at Barclay Downs.  The Selwyn entrance enters and exits from Colony Road.  Students enter the buildings through the walkways to the middle part of our campus buildings.

During carpool hours:

  • The Front Entrance is a one-way direction. Do not enter from Barclay Downs, as this is a one-way exit for buses and cars.
  • Students may be dropped off in front of the 7th/8th grade building walkway from the Front Entrance.  Students may not enter the main entrance doors (via Front Office) during carpool hours.
  • Cars using the Selwyn Entrance may drop off/pick up students along the Selwyn Front Office sidewalk to ensure safety of students.

Early dismissal ends at 2:40PM and if a student checks out before 12:00 PM, that will count towards a full day’s absence. To check out your child for early dismissal, a parent or legal guardian (of record in CMS system) must be present at AGMS, scan the QR code to complete a google form, and provide a  government issued ID to the attendance secretary.  Due to the volume of student check out, please arrive earlier than your scheduled appointment as it may take some time to locate and call the student from class.

6th Grade students in a pod share the same core subject teachers, such as ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies.  Students are then placed in classes designated by each block.

As part of school safety and security, students must pass through designated metal detectors upon arrival.  To ensure timely security check in, students are encouraged to bring a non-metal water bottle to school.  Should a metal water bottle be used, encourage your student to pull the metal water bottle out of the bookbag prior to the start of the security check in process to help facilitate a timely process.
